Tired of waiting for a reissue of your favorite record on CD? Unfortunately, most records will never make it to CD. We can help you whether you've found a record on our site that you'd like on CD, or have some records of your own that you'd like transferred.

Transferring one of our records to CD-R

For the best deal, and the best sound, you'll want to make sure the recording isn't available from a large online CD retailer. The biggest and best is Amazon.com.

Services & Prices:

Transfer only ($30): The CD-R will sound exactly like the record. The songs will be divided into individual tracks.

Noise reduction (+ $20): This removes most clicks and pops. It is very effective at cleaning up the quiet passages and between tracks, and gets most loud pops throughout. It also reduces any hum resulting from the original recording or the conversion process.

Advanced Noise reduction (+ $40): The $40 noise reduction uses much more advanced (and time consuming) algorithms that split the entire record into multiple parts and does noise reduction separately based on the volume and frequency. It's a great process that is especially effective at removing light clicks & pops throughout the record. The next process is to reduce the noise floor considerably (this process reduces any hum as well as record surface noise). The final process is to go through nearly the entire recording manually looking for any clicks/pops that were missed, and using a special tool to zap them individually.

The guiding principle either way is to not distort the music in any way. There are easier and quicker ways to do noise reduction but they inevitably mess up the sound quality (most software falls into this category).

To be in accordance with copyright laws, my service will be duplicating your record to CD. Therefore, the total cost will include the cost of the LP plus the cost of the CD plus shipping. I will ship both LP and CD to you. If your CD is ever lost or damaged, you will always have the LP as a source for an additional copy. I cannot sell you just the CD.

Due to the time involved in making CDs, and the occasional large order that occupies my resources for a while, orders ship 2-4 weeks from the date they're placed.

To order, please purchase the LP, and in the comments request a CD duplication of that LP. I will assume you want the $30 version. If you'd like the noise reduction or advanced noise reduction, please specify that also.

Transferring your collection to CD

The same options and prices apply for your own record collection. However, there are discounts available when you have more records converted at the same time. For 10 or more LPs, take 10% off.
